WDR 4 ab in die 80er! - with Holly Johnson, Kim Wilde, Spider Murphy Gang, Nik Kershaw and Fancy*
This Year we are back and we are getting all of your favourite artists of the 80s on one big festival again!
And we got together some of your all-time favourites!
Singer, painter, author - Holly Johnson is a true artist. Colorful and eccentric - that's how a career should be.
He became known in 1980 when he founded the band Frankie Goes to Hollywood together with Brian Nash and Peter Gill, which later included Paul Rutherford and Mark O'Toole. After the band broke up in 1987, Johnson began his solo career in the spring of 1989 and took off right away with his album "Blast". 17 weeks at number one in the UK charts, 25 weeks in the German and a gold award, so began a great and long career.
Another artist that will be with us that night is Kim Wilde! For one evening we will all become “Kids in America”! And of course her other hits like “You keep me hanging on” will make us nostalgic. The “Best Female Voice Awards” winner is internationally known and landed top 5 in Europe and Asia. Last time with “Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime”, the successful duet with Nena.
When asked about herself, she says “I’m a Rock Chick!” so we can expect an incredible performance!
It will also be a “Skandal im Sperrbezirk!” because the Spider Murphy Gang is part of our line-up!
For more than 25 years they perform breath-taking shows and proof that they wearing their “Rock’n’Roll Schuah”. It doesn’t matter if Bavarian or standard German, everyone will enjoy the night.
Truly a performance to rock!
Nik Kershaw, one of the biggest names of the 80s will be there to perform his 2020 album “Oxymoron” and of course all of his best ofs you all love! Didn’t we all sing “won’t let the sun go down” and “The Riddle” from the top of our lungs?
The British singer songwriter has been praised by numerous legends like Eric Clapton and Elton John during his whole career; “the best songwriter of this decade” John said.
After being on Tour in May he comes back to Germany in November to have a blast with us in Dortmund!
Last but not least: Fancy! The Munich-born artist achieved his great success in the 80s with hits like "Slice Me Nice" and "Flames Of Love" and that even worldwide! Generation X can't imagine life without the great star Fancy.
Our festival will be taking place in the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund.
Get your tickets now and be with us when the 80s come back to life!
