The Waterboys - Live in Concert
Rarely have there been bands that have changed as much as the WATERBOYS. After their formation in 1983, Mike Scott created an extraordinary "post-punk" sound on their first three albums, achieving a breakthrough hit with the song "This is the Sea" (1985). Since then, their music never stopped evolving, from the outstanding blend of traditional Irish and Scottish music, country music and rock 'n' roll on the album "Fisherman's Blues", to the poetic masterpiece "An Appointment with Mr Yeats" (2011) and their new album "Where The Action Is". This is the thirteenth studio album by the Waterboys, which was released in May 2019 and reached #3 on the UK Independent Albums Chart.
The album title was inspired by Robert Parker's classic "Let's Go Baby (Where The Action Is)" and features 10 rocking - yet genre-bending - songs that reflect the outstanding talent of founder and frontman Mike Scott. Scott has been one of Britain's finest songwriters for 4 decades, with songs covered by no less than Prince, Rod Steward and even Ellie Goulding.
The Waterboys - consisting of Mike Scott (vocals, guitar and piano), Steve Wickham (electronic violin), Paul Brown (the great Memphis entertainer on keyboards) and Ralph Salmins (drums), experimented with many songs on the new album, but the last song "Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" is particularly outstanding. Here Mike Scott reads the most beautiful part of the book "The Wind In The Windows" by Kenneth Grahame and is musically accompanied by his bandmates, which provides an extraordinary ending for the album "Where The Action Is".
Next year the successful band THE WATERBOYS will be back on stage in Germany for exclusive concerts to enchant the audience again with high musical class and a unique sound.
